Ben silbermann is an American entrepreneur who founded the popular application Pinterest that allows sharing of photos.

Ben silbermann was born in a family of ophthalmologists. He was born in 1982. When he was a child he had a fascination for collecting dried insects, stamps etc. And he used pins to pin them on cardboards. And this hobby of Silbermann led to the the idea of Pinterest.
the site enables users to upload,save and arrange image or videos that are called pins. The collection of  pins are called pin board. Users can also browse other pinboards 'like' them. Before the creation of Pinterest in 2010, Ben silbermann work at Google ,on its online advertising group.
Then he left Google and started designing iPhone apps with his college mate paul sciarra. After all these things only Ben silbermann started working on the idea of Pinterest with his friends paul sciarra and even sharp.

The site was not successful in the beginning ,it only had around 10000 users in the first nine months. But the following years it shot into Fame and received media attention, today Pinterest has around 20 million users worldwide.

When Ben silbermann launched the site in March 2010 he defined Pinterest as a 'catalogue of ideas' rather than a social network.
The fastest growing website by overall member growth, Pinterest took the lead by 57 % ,on the other hand Facebook member has grew only by 6%.
